1. Preparing Your List

One of the best ways to tackle the big meal is by taking care when prepping your grocery list. Think through your guest list, taste preferences and portion sizes to better gauge your culinary needs. We recommend kicking it old school by jotting everything down on paper. Based on your guest list, plan on 4 oz. of each item per person. With so many courses to prep, keep it simple by offering only two to three veggie or protein options. This is one way to ease some stress without compromising taste.

2. Timing is Everything

While in your planning process, figure out how long each item takes to prep and cook. Create a production chart to better keep track of course prep order and cooking times. The planning process will help coordinate space and your table setup.

3. Not Everything Needs to be Homemade

Home-cooked meals are always a hit, but time and space constraints can make cooking an entire meal from scratch a daunting task. Dishes like cranberry sauce can easily be purchased from your local grocery store, but you do not have to settle for store bought. For that from-scratch touch, cranberry sauce can easily be spiced up with candied pecans, raisins or apples!

4. Deciding on Décor

When deciding on décor, start with a color scheme. Once you have a color scheme in mind, begin researching current tablescapping trends. Do not be afraid to mix themes like vintage with rustic or stainless steel with wood. For that final fall touch, use flowers in full bloom and pine cones for an especially festive look.

5. For a Big Impression, Try Sprucing up the Small Stuff

Sometimes smaller details like your bread rolls, hollandaise sauce or gravy can get overlooked. This time around, make small tweaks like glazing the turkey or sprucing up your sides can go a long way.

6. Remember to Have Fun!

While it may be stressful planning out a dinner party, always remember that the guests are coming for more than delicious food. They are also here for friends and family! Planning a party and prepping a meal can be stressful, so take a year off and instead plan a trip to High Hampton Inn! We will do all the work for you.
