Mountain Vistas & Memorable Vows

January 23rd, 2017

Weddings are no longer one evening or even one day events. Weddings are a weekend of memories for the bride, groom and their family and friends. While there is something to say about the nostalgia behind getting married in your own backyard or hometown, more and more brides are looking for a unique destination offering activities for all their guests.

According to The Knot, destination weddings offer a cost-effective and stress-free alternative to a traditional wedding as well as the chance to reunite with friends and family for a weekend of fun. Does this sound like something you have been daydreaming about? If so, it is time to choose a location.

If your fairy tale visions feature beautiful woodlands and breathtaking views, High Hampton Inn is the dream destination for you. Still need more convincing? Here are a few of our favorite activities available for our High Hampton Inn wedding parties.

Pre-Wedding Adventure:  Regardless of whether or not you have already celebrated your bachelorette or bachelor party, the days leading up to your big day are special moments to spend with friends and family. What better way to cherish them than a mountain adventure hike for 360 degree mountain views at the peak of Chimney Top Mountain, or with a lake excursion casting a line or grabbing a paddle on one of our on-property lakes. The photos alone will leave all but your wedding party with a serious case of FOMO.

Pamper, Unwind and Relax: It’s a given that you have worked hard to plan your wedding and deserve some much needed R&R to unwind before the big day. In fact, wedding experts suggest that wedding parties take time to relax before heading down the aisle (or in this case mountain vista). Relieve your planning stress and let your worries slip away by checking in to our spa for massages, yoga, mani/pedis, hair styling and more.

Personalized Day-Of: The key to a unique wedding is an authentic destination with plenty of ceremony and reception locations. We are excited to work with you to turn your very own wedding fantasy into a wedding day reality.

Send-Off in Style: Brides and grooms aren’t just sneaking out the back door anymore. The send-off day is everyone’s opportunity to gossip about the best dance moves from the night before and how incredible the bride and groom looked during the vows. Plan a morning brunch with your guests for the occasion in our dining area or have the team at High Hampton Inn help you to set-up a brunch event.

Tips on Putting Together the Perfect Thanksgiving Dinner

November 1st, 2016

With Thanksgiving approaching fast, we are excited to share some tips on how to make your Thanksgiving dinner successful and memorable. Below are some insider tips from our culinary and event teams on how to make this Thanksgiving one for the books!

1. Preparing Your List

One of the best ways to tackle the big meal is by taking care when prepping your grocery list. Think through your guest list, taste preferences and portion sizes to better gauge your culinary needs. We recommend kicking it old school by jotting everything down on paper. Based on your guest list, plan on 4 oz. of each item per person. With so many courses to prep, keep it simple by offering only two to three veggie or protein options. This is one way to ease some stress without compromising taste.

2. Timing is Everything

While in your planning process, figure out how long each item takes to prep and cook. Create a production chart to better keep track of course prep order and cooking times. The planning process will help coordinate space and your table setup.

3. Not Everything Needs to be Homemade

Home-cooked meals are always a hit, but time and space constraints can make cooking an entire meal from scratch a daunting task. Dishes like cranberry sauce can easily be purchased from your local grocery store, but you do not have to settle for store bought. For that from-scratch touch, cranberry sauce can easily be spiced up with candied pecans, raisins or apples!

4. Deciding on Décor

When deciding on décor, start with a color scheme. Once you have a color scheme in mind, begin researching current tablescapping trends. Do not be afraid to mix themes like vintage with rustic or stainless steel with wood. For that final fall touch, use flowers in full bloom and pine cones for an especially festive look.

5. For a Big Impression, Try Sprucing up the Small Stuff

Sometimes smaller details like your bread rolls, hollandaise sauce or gravy can get overlooked. This time around, make small tweaks like glazing the turkey or sprucing up your sides can go a long way.

6. Remember to Have Fun!

While it may be stressful planning out a dinner party, always remember that the guests are coming for more than delicious food. They are also here for friends and family! Planning a party and prepping a meal can be stressful, so take a year off and instead plan a trip to High Hampton Inn! We will do all the work for you.
