New Year’s Mountain Resolutions

January 18th, 2018 by Staff

365 new days, 365 new chances! High Hampton Resort will open its doors in April for its 96th season, and we invite you to fulfill your New Year’s hopes and dreams while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Learn how you can keep your resolutions this year at High Hampton Resort:

  1. Spend more time outdoors: High Hampton Resort offers many outdoor activities that will appeal to every member of your family! An afternoon swim in the 35-acre Hampton Lake or an evening hike on one of eight hiking trails is a great way to get in shape and spend time with your loved ones.

  1. Unplug and unwind: Beautiful scenery and amazing outdoor activities encourage families to unwind and reconnect on a more personal level. Television is not offered in the rooms, so get ready for board games, stargazing, reading and talking with the ones you love.

  1. Make a new friend: Make a new friend of the fury variety. Visit High Hampton Resort’s resident donkeys Fred and Ed, get close and personal with magnificent birds of prey through the Falconry Program and be sure to ask about High Hampton’s famous llama hikes! Hikes are offered Thursdays at 4 p.m. and on Saturday 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

  1. Reconnect with your family over shared meals: Meals at High Hampton Resort are much more than just dining, they are a personalized experience. High Hampton’s traditional dining hall serves delicious Southern cuisine that is guaranteed to please every member of the family. The strict no phone at the table rule allows for families to enjoy their loved ones’ company and reconnect over a tasty meal.

  1. Let go of the past year: Take some time to write in your journal while sitting next to the Hampton Lake at sunset. Wake up at sunrise and try out meditation for the first time at the peak of Chimney Top Mountain. This year is all about you!

  1. Keep your loved ones close: Take advantage of all the family-oriented activities offered at the resort by hosting a family reunion at High Hampton. Plan a special dinner at the beautiful Laurel Garden, enjoy a game of croquet on the lawn, sip on afternoon tea in the lobby, and listen to live music at Rock Mountain Tavern. Make new memories and let go of past resentments.

Take in the crisp mountain air, reset your mind, let go of negative energy and make your 2018 the best year to date with a stay at High Hampton Resort. High Hampton Resort reopens for the 96th season in April.

High Hampton Inn: A Family Place

October 6th, 2017 by Staff

With fall in full swing, High Hampton Inn & Country Club is here to make your family getaway a little sweeter! The resort has prided itself on its multi-generational family appeal and sense of Southern hospitality for nearly a century. Guests from all walks of life can find a cozy and relaxing home away from home at High Hampton Inn. From the gorgeous scenery, cool mountain breezes, rustic accommodations and soothing atmosphere, High Hampton Inn continues to offer a one of a kind community experience. High Hampton Inn is the perfect family retreat offering parent-approved activities such as 15+ miles of hiking trails, lawn games, Llama Olympics and arts and crafts

We sat down with one former guest who knows and loves the lands so much that she eventually found her way back to her High Hampton home. Pro Shop team member Nicole Russell tells how High Hampton Inn plays a huge part in her life.

How long have you been a part of the High Hampton community?

Nicole is a native to Cashiers, NC and the High Hampton Inn. She says; “My family moved here in the early 1970’s. My childhood was spent at High Hampton, exploring the waterfalls, hiking the mountains, playing golf and riding horses. Some of my favorite memories of High Hampton were of the evening entertainment.”

What is your current connection to High Hampton Inn?

Nicole says that after moving away for 16 years, she decided to come back in September of 2016, with her family in tow. “My husband was willing to leave his law enforcement job of 18 years to move to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. I am so grateful to my husband, with his job as a Deputy, it opened a door for us to move home.” Soon after the move she was offered a position in the ProShop, which she happily took. Nicole  is elated to finally be home at High Hampton Inn, stating; “The feeling of coming home and working at the one place I have loved my entire life has been surreal!”

What was it like to grow up as part of the High Hampton Inn Community?

“My grandparents’ home was across from the 16th hole.  I have countless stories that I share with my children all about the happy times spent there. So many happy occasions took place in our home near hole 16! Playing golf was part of our daily routine,” Nicole reminisces. “In the winter, we would go sledding until our toes were numb. My grandfather always had hot chocolate and a warm fire waiting.”

What, in your opinion, makes High Hampton Inn so special, especially for families?

“High Hampton is a magical place; a place families come to visit time after time. Some are new to the area, while others have been visiting for 40 years! Yes, it is that special. As for the guests and home owners, they are the heartbeat of High Hampton.”

Family connections and memories are made every day at High Hampton Inn. From the luscious golf course to the friendly community residents, High Hampton offers something for everyone in the family. Come experience the scenic mountain vistas, unique animal encounters and activities suited for every member of the family! Total Solar Eclipse Makes for a Totally Stellar Summer Event

July 7th, 2017 by Staff

Summer is always a special time at High Hampton Inn, but this season our property is part of a select portion of the country that will witness a rare celestial phenomenon – the Great American Eclipse! August 21 will be the first time in decades that a total solar eclipse will be visible in the United States, making this an essential part of any traveler’s bucket list.

This once in a lifetime spectacle is a can’t miss performance put on by our planet that will completely morph day into night as the moon blocks the sun. High Hampton Inn will experience 2 minutes and 23 seconds of total darkness, which is one of the longest totalities in the country and the longest totality in Jackson County.

High Hampton Inn is offering front row seats to the spectacle of the season. In honor of the eclipse, we are hosting the Total Eclipse on the Rock Mountain House Party, where guests can celebrate with great food, signature drinks, live entertainment, special eclipse viewing glasses and more. For even more ways to experience the natural wonder, check out other Jackson County eclipse weekend happenings and events.

Whether eclipse chasing, stargazing, leaf peeping or simply unwinding, High Hampton Inn is the premier mountain getaway destination. Can’t make it for the eclipse? Check out our fantastic fall packages that help put your mountain vacation within reach.
